Protocol Name 

GELVATOL MOUNTING MEDIUM RECIPE 

Materials Required 

• 6g PVA 

• 15mL dH2O 

• 30mL 0.2 M Tris HCl (pH8.6) 

• 15g glycerol 

Procedure 

1. Combine dH2O with Tris HCl in 200mL beaker. 

2. Either add 6g PVA and mix with mild heating (no more than 50°C) until PVA is largely dissolved 

3. Or add 6g PVA and mix overnight. 

4. Add 15g glycerol and stir to mix. 

5. Decant into 50mL conical tubes and centrifuge at 5,000g for 15 minutes. 

6. Store at 4°C until ready to use. To dispense, draw mounting medium into 5mL syringe.
