The Centre for Solar Biotechnology is focused on the development of next generation solar factories based on microalgae and plants to produce a wide range of products including recombinant protein biologics, anti-virals, anti-bacterials, novel biopharmaceuticals, pigments, proteins, nanomaterials and anti-oxidants.

Objective/mission (The vision): To develop mathematical models that accurately describe the operation of these solar factories in response to their environment together with the economic, social and environmental benefits that they deliver.

Research approach (The initiative): The project will involve the mathematical description of all aspects of the solar factory. This includes environmental parameters, the response of the production facility to these (e.g. crop, microalgae yields) and the economic, social and environmental benefits that they deliver.

Impacts and applications: These mathematical models will advance the capabilities and performance of our Technoeconomic and Life Cycle Analysis (see below).

Partners/collaborators: The project offers the potential for collaborations with both research and industry partners.
