Researchers are going 'back to the future' to develop a forgotten antibiotic into a new treatment for life-threatening bacterial infections resistant to all known antibiotics.
University of Queensland health and medical research projects aimed at improving the nation’s healthcare will benefit from more than $42 million in funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council for 2017.
The National Health and Medical Research Council has named two UQ projects among its 10 of the Best Research Projects 2015, including IMB Group Leader Professor David Craik's project named “The scorpion king: lighting the way to defeating brain cancer”. These projects have led to ground-breaking medical discoveries and important changes to healthcare.
