Q&A with Angela Salanitri, Human Resources Advisor, Institute Professional Services Team
How long have you been with UQ?
I am new to UQ and IMB, only starting in my HR Advisor role for the Institutes PST 8 weeks ago. Prior to that I worked for 6 years in the Financial Services and Insurance industry in a HR Advisor role.
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
One of the best things about being in HR is no day is the same. There is great variety day to day which I really enjoy. You never know who may come in to speak to you and who may need support and advice on any given day on a wide range of personal and professional matters. In saying that, there are still some key foundational pieces that is a core focus such as our current work on fixed term contract renewals and process improvements within the HR service delivery.
If you could switch jobs with someone at IMB, who would it be?
Such a hard question! I don’t think I would switch jobs with anyone (the work that everyone does here is astonishing and I could never do it justice) and I love my job – wouldn’t change it.
What aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?
The people side – being able to listen to our people and provide them with the advice and guidance to assist them in their roles is really the most enjoyable part. We all bring something unique and different to IMB, and being able to see that everyone is doing that and are proud of what they contribute personally gives me satisfaction.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
It’s a bit bitter sweet but in my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, but then also catching up with friends over food!
What places have you lived in?
I have been a Brisbane girl my whole life. Born and raised here and have never moved elsewhere.
