Applications for the IMB Research Advancement Award are now open!

UQ’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) invites Australia’s most promising young scientists to apply for a $30,000* top-up scholarship to help kick-start their research career.

The IMB Research Advancement Award will be offered to an upcoming PhD student who has demonstrated potential to become a future leader in science.

IMB students can undertake research across many disciplines, including our research priority areas of medical genomics, drug discovery and biotechnology, which span our health impact areas of pain, superbugs, rare diseases, cancer, agriculture and clean energy.


Expressions of interest must be submitted electronically to postgrad-office@imb.uq.edu.au by 5pm on 15 September 2015.


Applications are sought from talented domestic students who demonstrate: 

Excellence in academic achievement

A passion for scientific research

Independence and leadership potential

Ability to communicate your love of science

Receive an additional $30,000* career enrichment award on top of your APA or an equivalent scholarship.

* Payable in annual instalments of $10,000

You are eligible to apply if you are a domestic student intending to undertake full-time PhD studies at IMB. You must also secure an Australian Postgraduate Award or equivalent award to support your studies.
