Calling all mathematical and computation biology enthusiasts!
Registrations are now open for the 11th annual Winter School in Mathematical and Computational Biology, hosted by IMB and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Bioinformatics from 7-11 July at UQ’s St Lucia campus.
Last year’s school attracted almost 300 participants from six countries who came together to learn about how mathematics and computing can be used to advance biological research and gain insights into how our bodies function in health and disease.
Participants at this year’s school will hear from 34 expert speakers--including keynote speaker Professor John Quackenbush (Harvard University), who was last year named as an Open Science Champion of Change by the Obama administration--on topics such as:
- next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics
- modelling from high-throughput bio-data
- big data, statistics and applications
- molecular phylogenetics.
The school is designed to introduce mathematical and computational biology and bioinformatics to advanced undergraduate and postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers and others working in the fields of biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, information technology, complex systems analysis, chemical and medical sciences and engineering.
Early Bird registration costs $205 (including all lunches and morning teas) and is available until 22 June.
