The cavin interactome
We hypothesize that flattening of caveolae helps cells cope with changes in membrane tension caused, for example during excessive muscle activity. During this process, caveolae are stretched, causing cavins to be released into the cell and allowing them to interact with cellular components. We are investigating the cellular network of cavin interacting proteins using proteomic-based approaches combined with cellular assays.
