Contacting an Advisor

Please be mindful that our Advisors receive a high volume of emails including expressions of interest from potential students. In order to be considered for a project and receive a reply from them, please ensure your email to them includes the following:

  • The project title in the subject line of the email
  • An attached up-to-date CV. Please include degree(s), grade point average of each, and where they were obtained. Also include research experience (with details of specific projects/techniques), publications (if relevant), and referee contact details.
  • An attached copy of your academic transcript

Advisors at IMB are seeking high-achieving candidates with exceptional academic records, relevant research experience, and a passion for research with impact.

Once you receive the Advisor's official endorsement for a project, you are ready to apply for your PhD via the UQ Graduate School.

Haven't heard back?

If you are not considered a competitive applicant, or do not include the required documents in your email, you may unfortunately not receive a response. Please do not be offended or discouraged - it is a reflection of Advisors' high volume of emails that they are not always able to reply and give feedback for an expression of interest.
