Researcher biography

Dr M. Rhia L. Stone is an emerging leader in probe design and orthogonal modification of biologically relevant molecules. She obtained her PhD in 2020 from The University of Queensland (UQ), working on synthesis of fluorescent and radiolabelled antibiotics. This was followed by postdoctoral positions at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (USA), the ARC Training Centre for Innovation in Biomedical Imaging Technology at UQ and is now based at the Centre for Superbug Solutions at the University of Queensland. Rhia has extensive experience with small molecule, peptide, and protein scaffolds, including rational design, synthesis, and characterisation of novel molecules. In their current position, Rhia utilises synthesis, microbiology and animal imaging, working with a range of interdisciplinary collaborators.
