Two Junior Scientists in lab coats holding science props at IMB's Junior Science Hub

About

The Institute for Molecular Bioscience returns to World Science Festival Brisbane's City of Science with our Junior Scientist Hub. Enjoy a weekend packed with engaging, hands-on science activities suitable for the whole family.

Discover how IMB researchers are harnessing nature to find new medicines and investigate the intersection of art and science.

Activities

  • Build your own peptide out of pipe cleaners with scientists from The ARC Centre of Excellence for Innovations in Peptide and Protein Science (CIPPS), hosted at IMB.
  • Spot the science elements in the large-scale installation, 'Nature Étude' (2023), by internationally renowned contemporary artist, Hiromi Tango.
  • Look at petunia seeds under the microcscope.
  • Mindfully colour in a print by artist Hiromi Tango to unlock the power of peptides and proteins

After completing the activities, your little one can graduate from our Junior Science Hub. Snap a photo of them in a lab coat and take home a graduation certificate signed by our Executive Director, Ian Henderson.

Don't miss this special opportunity to spark a passion for science in the hearts of the next generation of innovators!
