Immunometabolism and Chronic Disease Conference, August 2017, Fiji

Chronic diseases associated with immunometabolic dysfunction are growing exponentially in all parts of the world. However, in the Asia Pacific Region the growth of some of these diseases is alarming.

For example, countries in this region have the highest rates of obesity, type 2 diabetes and liver diseases worldwide, but the region is largely overlooked when global health problems associated with chronic diseases are assessed.

Research into chronic diseases, especially the immunometabolic mechanisms that contribute to disease initiation and progression, is essential. This August, the Inaugural Immunometabolism and Chronic Diseases Conference is being held in Fiji.

Inaugural Immunometabolism and Chronic Diseases Conference

13-16 August 2017, Coral Coast, Fiji

Conference Objectives

It is a major goal of this meeting to highlight the importance of cutting edge research in this field in order to develop better treatments and to decrease the social and economic burden of chronic disease in the Asia Pacific Region.  It is also to provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of current research on chronic diseases with a focus on the latest developments in the immunometabolic mechanisms that contribute to disease initiation and progression.

This is the inaugural conference that will bring together high level scientists from different disciplines and participants from all career levels. The format of the meeting will encourage thorough discussions of the latest research in the field between established and young investigators and trainees, along with cross-fertilisation among scientists from a variety of backgrounds.

Who Should Attend

We encourage young scientists/clinicians to attend and expect broad representation from various disciplines. The conference will especially appeal to scientists, scientists/clinicians in academia, biotech and pharmaceutical companies with interest in Biology, Immunology, Metabolic Diseases, Immuno-Metabolism, Molecular/Cellular Biology and Epigenetics.
