Researcher biography

Anna Vinkhuyzen is a research fellow and project manager in the Program of Complex Traits Genomics, at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience. She is involved in various projects aiming to advance our understanding of common complex diseases: diseases that are common in the population but complex in nature. Anna is driven to translate sophisticated scientific discoveries into tangible public health applications.

Anna was originally trained as a neuropsychologist (MSc at the University of Groningen, 2006) and has obtained a PhD (2010) in behavioural genetics at the VU University Amsterdam, both in The Netherlands.

In her postdoctoral research at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (2010-2011) and The University of Queensland (since January 2012) in Brisbane, Australia, her research focus moved from behaviour genetics to statistical genetics.
