The IMB has state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to undertake leading edge bioscientific research. Some of these facilities are:

Another facility located at IMB is the Queensland Facility for Advanced Bioinformatics. QFAB provides advanced bioinformatics solutions to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, clinical and research communities and is currently looking for new partners and groups requiring bioinformatics solutions.

The Queensland Centre for Medical Genomics is also located at IMB. QCMG was established with a $27 million grant from the National Health and Medical Research Council, their largest ever. The Centre will map the genome of pancreatic and ovarian tumours as part of the International Cancer Genome Consortium.

Further complementing these facilities, IMB researchers have access to leading-edge items of equipment, in some cases not found elsewhere in the country. These include:

  • Dynamic Imaging Facility for Cancer Biology
  • Bioinformatics and super computing facilities
  • X-Ray and protein crystallography
